You're looking at the latest person to qualify as an open water diver. It's been a long 2 weeks, but well worth it. My qualifying dives were at Bass Lake, a quarry an hour outside of Joburg. I must admit, the first 5 minutes in the pool had me in doubt if I could handle the underwater world. I just couldn't get the breathing right. But, after my 3 hour pool session, I couldn't wait for my qualifying dives. The mask skills were also a challenge, but that got easier. And even though Bass Lake was murky, the whole concept of breathing underwater and exploring an untapped world is very lekker. I can't wait to go to the coast!
