Knysna Forest Half Marathon

I ran my first 21km this past Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The run route was beautiful, as expected, and the weather managed to hold up (even though it poured the night before) even producing bright blue skies.

The run was part of the Knysna Oyster Festival and has gotten more popular with each year.

The evening before the run with Glenda. (She ended up getting sick the week before and didn't run. Such a shame!) We decided to start the process of carbo loading with a beer :).

The line to catch a bus to the START in the forest. Race started at 8am.

The run (half and full marathon) allows a total of 8000 entries. Phew, we entered the race just in time!

The route. A bit uphill in the beginning and then a HUGE downhill 3/4 through which killed my quads! But I managed to cruise the last 7km while many people walked.

Me at the finish. My time: 2 hours 20 minutes (it took me 4 minutes to get to the START).

Happy to have finished!

Me in front of the fire the night after the race. Completely beat. And yes, that IS a cat in front of me. This cat caused my asthma to act up (due to allergies) the night before running. Thankfully I managed to work through it during the race!

The Knysna Heads and the Lagoon. Beautiful!
