I'm feeling quite fortunate to be able to see all these animals in the wild. I realize that usually this is a once in a lifetime experience and am very thankful. When visiting Vic Falls, there are tour groups that offer a day trip into Botswana to see Chobe NP. What an experience to leave Zambia, take a boat over to Botswana, be driven to customs, walk through a Foot and Mouth Disease control area, and finally make it to the Lodge where we set foot on our little boat to see the birds and animals via water (versus land which was in the afternoon).
The water cruise through the Chobe River where Botswana and Namibia meet. Highlights:
Crocs smiling at us.
Lots of hippos (lazy and hungry ones :)) and also saw one swimming(yikes, not pretty!)
Even more elephants- a female herd drinking and splashing mud on themselves
A male herd helping each other across the river.

Pretty bird- Forgot the name.
The crowd at the Botswana border. Sometimes these trucks wait weeks to cross the border!

Becky! That's the same safari that we took when we went. Very cool. And amazingly close to all the wildlife. :P Great pics! Hope all is well in SA. Take care!
